A governor is expected to be the chief security officer of his or her state. Such a governor is expected to be brave and courageous. But it seems this is not the case in Oyo state if the minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare, is to be believed.

According to Dare, the crises currently happening in Oyo is beyond the state governor's capacity. Specifically, Dare accused Governor Seyi Makinde of being paralysed with fear.

According to him, the governor needs to be more proactive in handling the security situation in the state, The Guardian reports.

Dare who is an indigene of the state, claimed the governor has done nothing to solve the security situation. He claimed the governor was hoping the crises would soon go away.

He said:

“Governor Makinde seems to be paralysed by fear regarding this important security situation. This is the first serious test of his leadership of the state. Instead of tackling it, he has retreated. His policy has not been proactive enough to resolve the issues so that security of lives will be guaranteed and our people spared the mourning over dead ones. Instead, his policy has been to act as if nothing was happening in forlorn hope that all would simply go away as if it were a bad dream.”
