The deputy vice-chancellor of Anchor University owned by Deeper Life Ministries in Lagos, John Fatokun, has opened up on his traumatic experience in the hands of kidnappers.

Fatokun said his abductors threatened to transfer him to the camp of Boko Haram as they were no longer interested in the ransom.

The Oyo state indigene narrating his ordeal to The Punch after spending three days in kidnappers den said a senior pastor of his church in Keffi, Nasarawa state contacted to pay the sum of N20 million as ransom.

He went on to note that when the discussion regarding ransom payment did not go well, that was when the leader came to threaten him.

According to Fatokun, he was released by the gunmen on the third day after some discussions.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the deputy vice-chancellor of Anchor University was on Monday, January 18, kidnapped by some unknown gunmen.

Fatokun was abducted by armed criminals on his way in Nasarawa to drop his children at the Deeper Life High School.

The sources also revealed that although Fatokun's abductors established contact with his family members, they had not made any request for ransom. It was gathered that prayers were being offered on behalf of the captive's safe release.

In a related development, Fatokun who gained his freedom from the kidnappers' den after days said despite the experience, his faith in God is unshakable.

The deputy VC who spoke on Thursday, January 21, added that he will not fail to both pray for the progress of the country and tutor great minds through his profession.

Speaking earlier on his release, the assistant registrar, strategy and communications, Okesola Sanusi, noted that Fatokun was freed after serious prayers were offered on his behalf.
