Sunday Igboho: Police finally take action over quit notice issued to herdsmen

The Oyo state police command has reportedly held a meeting with Sunday Adeyemo, the youth leader who gave Fulani herdsmen quit notice in Igangan, Ibarapa local government area of Oyo state.

PM News reported that Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, at a rally in the town told the people that he had a meeting with the police commissioner in Oyo, Ngozi Onadeko, and her deputy.

According to a video posted on the internet, Igboho said he was not arrested by the police despite the order of Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde.

The youth leader who spoke in Yoruba said the police authorities assured him that more policemen will be drafted to the area to maintain law and order.

He appealed to the people to cooperate with the police area commander and other policemen.

Igboho said he got assurances from the police that security will improve in the area.

Meanwhile, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) has received unexpected backing from Middle Belt Forum.

The forum had called on the inspector-general of police, Mohammed Adamu not to arrest Igboho over the quit notice he issued to herdsmen and the violence that followed it.

It also applauded Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu over his notice to unregistered herdsmen in the state's forest reserves.

In another report, the Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams has rejected claims by Arewa Consultative Forum,(ACF) and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) on the herdsmen situation in Oyo and Ondo states.

The Yoruba generalissimo declared that any attempt by the north against the southwest will fail.

Adams who disclosed this in a statement by his special assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, said his silence over the situation does not make him a coward.
