Van de Beek has found game time hard to come by at United since his summer arrival from Ajax in a deal valued at around £40million.

The midfielder has featured in just half of the Red Devils' Premier League matches, making a paltry two starts in those.

He has found himself playing second fiddle to Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba who Solskjaer often prefers at the middle of the park.

Despite his otherwise difficult situation at Old Trafford, the 23-year-old's attitude has remained positive according to the United boss.

"I wouldn’t say that Donny is happy. Of course, he wants to play more, but he gets about his job in the right manner," Ole said as cited by Metro UK.

Solskjaer further revealed Van de Beek is due to get some minutes when United take on Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday evening, January 24.

"He knows he is important for us and knows he is going to play many games. He will definitely be involved in this game against Liverpool and he might be the deciding factor in the game," the Norwegian revealed.
"He trusts his own quality. He is a quietly confident guy who deep down knows he is good enough and is just waiting for his opportunity," he added.

The tie, which comes barely a week after the two sides faced off at Anfield in the Premier League will see Ole line up a much-changed side to take on the reigning champions.

Dean Henderson and Scott McTominay are among the other players expected to feature in the tie as Solskjaer looks to win his first silverware at the Manchester club.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Man United are scheduled to take on rivals Liverpool for the second time under a week at Old Trafford on Sunday, January 24, but this time in the FA Cup.

Their previous meeting played at Anfield ended in a goalless draw, with neither side finding the back of the net.

The Sunday encounter has plenty of significance for both sides despite it being only the fourth round of the FA Cup.
