Very disappointing, Former INEC boss gives verdict on Buhari’s government

Professor Attahiru Jega, the former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman recently took a swipe at the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government following concerns of other prominent Nigerians.

According to Jega, the Nigerian leader has disappointed so many people, describing the performance of his administration as very disappointing.

The immediate past electoral commission boss who made the disclosure in an interview with Daily Trust said the Buhari administration performed below the expectations of many Nigerians.

Jega, who was appointed as former President Goodluck Jonathan as INEC chairman explained that at the federal level and many of the states governance has been very poor.

He explained that this is the reason why challenges including insurgency, banditry, armed robbery are everywhere.

The former vice-chancellor of Bayero University Kano went on to note that though Buhari still enjoys goodwill from the people, Nigerians have started to express worry about the direction the country is taking.

He also said Buhari still has time to correct things if he has the capacity to do that.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Olusegun Obasanjo did a thorough assessment of the economy, security, and agricultural engagement under the watch of Buhari.

The former president, in his New Year message to Nigerians, maintained that it is high time Nigerian leaders worked hard to diversify the economy and improve the worsening security crisis across the country.

Obasanjo, who spoke in a statement from his Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun state, called on the government to centrally engage the agricultural sector in order to provide jobs and make “a glorious 2021.”

Similarly, Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka revealed that the nation’s sovereignty has been taken over by armed groups.

Soyinka said it is time for President Buhari to do more to stop criminal elements who threaten Nigeria’s security, Premium Times reports.

According to him, the presidency should not think that it could solve all these problems from Aso Rock.
