Defending champions Arsenal are out of this season's FA Cup having lost to hard-fighting Southampton in the fourth round of the competition on Saturday afternoon, January 23.

An own goal in the 24th minute by Gabriel was enough to hand the Saints victory, in a tie many have tipped the Gunners to win.

The Saints' press discombobulates the Arsenal defence as the ball’s shuttled out to the right, with Walker-Peters entering the box and firing a shot through Cedric’s legs.

The ball takes a flick off Gabriel’s outstretched leg, and pings past the wrong-footed Leno and into the bottom left.

Southampton would have gone two goals up in the 44th minute when Ward-Prowse took his sweet time over a dangerous free kick.

He eventually took it, aiming for the top left as he could only get it up over the wall, but not back down.

Arsenal started the second-half brightly, but despite dominating huge possession, they only came close on the hour mark.

Nketiah's infield from the right, and his low shot was deflected off Bednarek and out for a corner and that wasn’t far from flying in, with Forster wrong-footed and rooted to the spot.

From the resulting corner, Holding hoicked over the bar from 12 yards, which was much better for the defending champions.

Despite seveal efforts, Mikel Arteta's men failed to restore parity and that was how it ended; Southampton 1-0 Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard lashed out at journalists for using ‘confirmation bias’ in a bid to spark up negative reactions among the fans during his press conference ahead FA Cup clash with Luton town.
