COVID-19 vaccine: Nigerian governors’ forum take crucial action

As the COVID-19 vaccine is now being distributed globally, a team of experts has been set up to advise governors on the procurement and administration in Nigeria, Channels TV reports.

The decision was taken by the state leaders during the 24th teleconference meeting of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) held on Wednesday, January 20.

The online news publication revealed that 3 medical experts during the meeting briefed the governors on the nation’s preparedness for the procurement and administration of the vaccines.

The experts also spoke on the level of collaboration required from all stakeholders, including the federal, state governments, and the private sector.

This development is coming as the secretariat of the NGF told Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state that COVID-19 is real and must be adequately tackled.

The NGF's made the statement following Governor Bello's claim that COVID-19 vaccines are meant to kill the people.

The chairman of the forum, Dr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, said the primary concern of the governors is to contain the hesitancy of Nigerians to the vaccines.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the federal government has put out an advisory to better educate citizens on the relevance of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The advisory which is in form of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), is an initiative of the federal ministry of information and culture, supervised by Alhaji Lai Mohammed and sent to Legit.ng.
