Chelsea may not kick Frank Lampard out of the club despite his poor run of results in his last eight matches, Daily Star.

The Blues have only won two matches in eight so far since their blistering form in the Premier League from late October and early December.

It is understood club owner Roman Abramovich is in no rush to sack and replace the English boss in his second season at Stamford Bridge.

Daily Star claim the board have given Lamnpard Champions League qualification as the minimum requirement to keep his job, something that he managed to secure the final day last season.

Reports also claim that Chelsea are happy with the outcome of their Champions League group stages as they prepare to take on Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.

Chelsea will take on Wolves and Burnley in the Premier League before their London derby against Tottenham as they begin their second round of matches in the league.

Lampard insisted he can handle the pressure following the loss to Leicester City but admitted that his players are not on top form.

“The general theme [against Leicester] was slower, more sluggish. It was lacking confidence but also lacking a bit of desire to run. When a team is confident, they look like Leicester.
“Or like we did a month ago. The very clear message to the players is when you’re playing well, if you relax a little bit, then this game kicks you right up the backside.
“There are players who are not playing as well as they should be. They are the only ones who can deal with that. How you handle setbacks is what defines you.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that with the way things are going Chelsea could finish in a disappointing position at the end of the 2020-21 season despite spending over £200million on transfers, The Sun.

The Blues were recently beaten by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium which saw them slide even further to eighth on the Premier League table.

Frank Lampard's men are now nine points off the top team and have one of their lowest points totals at the halfway stage in the history of the topflight division.
