Leonardo who is the sporting director at French champions Paris Saint-Germain has stated emphatically that his club are so much interested in the signing of Lionel Messi from Barca.

The future of Lionel Messi at Barcelona has not been sorted as the Argentine is currently spending the last season on his contract at the Nou Camp.

Before the start of the ongoing Spanish La Liga season, the Argentina international handed a transfer request following the club's inability to win a title last term.

Barcelona's embarrassing defeat in the Champions League also made Lionel Messi angry and thought leaving the Camp Nou would be the panacea.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner was seriously linked with a move to Premier League side Manchester City so as to have a reunion with Pep Guardiola.

According to the report on UK Sun, Leonardo explained that Lionel Messi is the type of player all clubs in the world would want in their teams.

"Great players like Messi will always be on PSG's shortlist, but now isn't the time to talk or dream about this.
"We are sitting at the table following this matter closely.
"Four months in football is an eternity, especially in this day and age, but our chair is reserved at the table."

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi and his teammates at Barcelona are currently occupying third position on the Premier League table with 34 points after 18 games.
