The increased number of COVID-19 infections in Nigeria is really getting state governors worried, especially as the federal government has ordered the re-opening of schools.
Moreover, the Nigerian Governors' Forum (NGF) is alarmed at the fact the commencement of the COVID-19 vaccination is still dragging, Channels TV reports.
Through its spokesman, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, the NGF in a statement spoke on this issue of national importance.

In light of this, the forum has decided to meet on Wednesday, January 20, to chart a way out of the threatening situation.
According to Bello-Barindo, during the meeting, the forum's PTF committee chaired by Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa will speak on what should be the way forward after giving an overview of the situation of the virus in Nigeria.

In addition to this, the chairman of the forum, Governor John Kayode Fayemi will brief governors on his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and "update the Forum on all pending matters that have remained inconclusive, flowing from the previous meetings."
Professor Akin Abayomi, the Lagos state commissioner for health, had said that there is an increase in the number of coronavirus patients having breathing difficulties in the state.
He said the state government had activated an Oxygen Plant within the premises of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Yaba, to provide swift support to COVID-19 patients who require oxygen therapy.
Legit.ng gathered that the commissioner, who activated the plant, noted that the increased demand for oxygen to treat COVID-19 patients in the second wave of the pandemic necessitated the activation of oxygen generation capacity in the state.
