A resurgent Man City side demolished Crystal Palace 4-0 at Etihad Stadium on Sunday night, January 17, to climb to second on the standings.

John Stone's brace and a goal each from Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling were enough to steer City to a comfortable win.

The Etihad outfit went into the Sunday clash on the backdrop of an impressive form that has seen them go unbeaten in nine of their last matches in all competitions.

The Pep Guardiola side stunned Brighton 1-0 in their last league match and were keen build on that result as they look to continue their title push.

And they made no mistake from the blow of the whistle when they hosted the Eagles, taking a deserved lead in the 26th minute through Stones after benefiting from Kevin de Bruyne's wonderful cross.

Gundogan doubled the advantage minutes into the second half, curling into the top corner to make it 2-0.

Stones completed his brace of the night in the 68th minute, with the Englishman smashing the ball into the back of the net to put the game beyond the visitors.

Sterling capped up City's impressive performance with a cracker minutes into stoppage time to guide his side to a comprehensive win at home.

The result was enough to send The Citizens to second on the charts with 35 points, two behind leaders and rivals United.

They, however, still have a game in hand against high-flying Everton.
