A 27-year-old lady named Stella Efe told The Nation that she has been finding it difficult to get her NIN due to the crowd at the registration centres.

She said:

“I live in Mowe, Ogun State and got here at 5 a.m. I was shocked by the sea of human heads I saw. I felt like running back to Shoprite bus stop. I decided to brave the odds and got number 153 because what happened to me in 2015 was a nightmare."

Another Nigerian, Alhaji Aziz Ibirogba, a 75-year old man told the publication that it has been challenging for him to make corrections to his NIN data.

He said for three days, he visited a NIMC registration centre as early as 5am but has not been able to get his data corrected by the officials.

Ibirogba said:

“I came from Ajah, left the house very early. The issue is they wrote 1953 as my date of birth instead of 1935. I have made attempts to correct it and they referred me to Ikeja."

Legit.ng also visited some of the NIMC enrollment centres in Lagos and found out that the venues were crowded with people who were not observing physical distancing guidelines.

Meanwhile, the federal government has justified the ultimatum it issued to Nigerians mandating them to link their SIM cards to the NIN or risk disconnection.
