Governor of Abia state threatens to sack workers, gives reason

- The Abia state governor, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has reacted to the slow pace of work on Ngwa road

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has issued a strong warning to officials supervising the Ngwa road project.

Ikpeazu said the commissioner for works, Bob Ogu, and supervising officials will be sacked if they do not mobilise at least 10 earth-moving equipment to the site within the next four weeks.

According to Leadership, the governor gave the warning in Aba.

He said he was displeased with the slow pace of the job on Ngwa road.

Ikpeazu said his administration was determined to improve the quality of roads in the state, adding that the era of shoddy road job had gone.

In another news, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has finally broken the silence about the rumour that he is planning to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Nation reports that the governor said he would not defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

Legit.ng gathered that while debunking rumours about defection, Ikpeazu said they were unfounded because PDP is the dominant party in the state.

Also, the Abia state chapter of the APC said there was no plan to lure Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to the ruling party.

The chairman of the party's state chapter, Donatus Nwankpa, said he would not join issues with the governor.

In another news, The Cable has reported that Agbazuere has been suspended by Governor Ikpeazu as the chief of staff to the Abia state government.

A video of Agbazuere spraying money on popular Onitsha-based cleric, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, better known as Odumeje, had trended online.
