United edged the Turf Moor-based side 1-0 to cart home all the three points, with Paul Pogba scoring the vital goal that separated the two teams.

The win was enough to send the Red Devils three points clear on top of the standings as Liverpool dropped to second with 33 points.

This is the first time the Old Trafford dwellers are sitting on the summit of the Premier League table in January since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013.

The win at Burnley also saw United extend their unbeaten streak away from home and remain the only side yet to lose on the road so far this season.

Reacting to his former side's turn of form, Neville warned United against getting carried away at this stage - but admitted they should enjoy the moment.

And when asked if the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-tutored side have a chance of challenging for the title, the former England international suggested the league has become unpredictable in recent weeks, but still gave United a chance of giving their rivals a run for their money.

"I don’t think anyone is saying Manchester United are going to win the league but the fact that they’re in a title race… wow, I never would have imagined it," Metro UK quoted Gary saying.
"But as I sit here tonight, why shouldn’t Manchester United fans believe and why shouldn’t this team believe," he added.
