Nigeria records 1,244 new coronavirus infections as total now 101,331

- More Nigerians are getting infected with coronavirus at an alarming rate

- As it stands, about 101,331 have been affected and 1,361 people have died as a result of the virus

- Available data also indicates that Lagos state is still leading others in the number of infections

In what will continue to scare many Nigerians, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 1,244 new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to the NCDC which disclosed this on Monday, January 11, this brings the total number of infections in the country to 101,331.

The public health agency said the new infections were reported from across 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It also confirmed additional three coronavirus-related deaths in the country in the past 24 hours.

According to records, Lagos state continues to record the highest number of confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the federal government declared that it would review the January 18 earlier date fixed for resumption of schools across the country.

The government on Monday, January 11, attributed the decision to the second wave of COVID-19 currently ravaging the country.

Legit.ng gathered that the minister of education, Adamu Adamu, disclosed this while answering questions during a press briefing by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 in Abuja.

In another report, a medical doctor working in one of the coronavirus isolation centres in Lagos has advised the state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on what to do to the violators of COVID-19 rules.

In the last few days, the Lagos state task force on coronavirus have been arresting violators of the COVID-19 guidelines in different fun spots in the commercial city.

The violators were recently paraded in the premises of the Lagos state police command while the state commissioner of police assured that they will be prosecuted.
