Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of losing Timothy Fosu-Mensah to German League side Bayer Leverkusen this transfer window.
The 23-year-old Dutchman has only featured just three times across all competitions for the Red Devils so far this campaign.
However, he has been told by his Premier League side he can leave the club owing to his limited playing time.
And the Bundesliga outfit is edging closer to sealing a £1.5 million deal for the defender who seems to have fallen down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Goal reports that Ajax have also shown interest in bringing the right-back back home having spent about eight years with them at the youth level.
Fosu-Mensah broke into the Red Devils first team in 2016 when Louis van Gaal was in charge but has since then spent time on loan at Crystal Palace and Fulham.
The publication further highlighted that Solskjaer confirmed the player could leave just 108 minutes this season.
"I’m not sure if he will stay or if he’s going to take an option now. "He’s not played enough, so of course he’s been allowed to speak to clubs with a view to leaving now in January.
"It’s difficult when you have good players, talented players, and you can’t give them game time. He’s now at the stage where he needs to go and play again.
"It might be the end of January or in the summer where he finds somewhere else, he’s working hard so he’s ready for a move for any club he feels ready for."
Apart from Fosu-Mensah, the Argentine duo of Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo could also be leaving the club this month.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Paris Saint Germain's new boss Mauricio Pochettino has made want-away Manchester United midfielder his prime transfer target.
The 27-year-old's current deal with the Red Devils expires in the summer of 2022 but he cannot wait to leave the Old Trafford outfit.
Both Juventus and Real Madrid have been on his case for some time now but Los Blancos showed more seriousness after submitting several bids but the offers were rejected.
