Aston Villa have been dumped out of the FA Cup by Liverpool following their 4-1 in a 3rd-Round FA cup tie.

Sadio Mane scored a brace while Georginio Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah got their names on the scoresheet as Villa's only scorer was 17-year-old Louie Barry.

Villa promoted 20 of their youngsters for this match after several of their first team players are currently in isolation for COVID-19 reasons.

Right from the fourth minute of the match, the Reds took the lead through Mane after he headed home a cross from Curtis Jones to make it 1-0.

James Milner should have made it 2-0 as another quality delivery from Jones saw the veteran Englishman's shot come off the post.

Surprisingly, Villa equalized four minutes before half time as Callum Rowe's brilliant through ball to Barry who scored a sensational goal to make it 1-1.

Liverpool returned the stronger side in the second half as Salah scored in the opening exchanges but was flagged off for offside.

However, on the hour mark, the Merseysiders restored the lead through Wijnaldum as the Dutchman tucked home Takumi Minamino pass to make it 2-1.

The English champions made it 3-1 three minutes after as Mane delivered a lobbing header from Xherdan Shaqiri's cross.

Shaqiri was the provider again as the Swiss' sleek pass to Salah saw the Egyptian twist and shot past the helpless goalkeeper to make it 4-1. And that was how the game ended at Villa Park.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Aston Villa are preparing to field a team of young players for the FA Cup third round tie against Liverpool slated for Friday, January 8.

The game is facing uncertainty after it emerged the Villa camp was hit by a COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a statement from Aston Villa's social media, manager Dean Smith, his coaching staff and a significant number of first team players will not be involved in the match after the forced closure of the club’s Bodymoor Heath training headquarters.
