Karim Benzema who is currently in great form for Spanish champions Real Madrid has landed himself in trouble as the Frenchman will be facing trial over tape scandal involving Valbuena.

The incident happened five years ago in which Karim Benzema was reported to have tried to extort some money from former France teammate over a video.

During that time, France were preparing to face Armenia in an international friendly match in which Karim Benzema was sent out of the squad because of the allegation to blackmail Valbuena.

French football association also instructed the coaching crew of the French national senior team not to invite Karim Benzema again and the Real Madrid star has not played for France since then.

According to the report on GOAL, Karim Benzema has been informed by prosecutors that he will be taken to court over the incident that happened five years ago.

The lawyer to the Real Madrid striker was said to have claimed that his client is innocent on what he was accused to have done.

Despite not being able to play for France since November 2015, Karim Benzema has been in sparking form for Real Madrid winning the Champions League four times.

Karim Benzema has also won the Spanish La Liga title three times so far with Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are currently occupying second position on the Spanish La Liga table with 36 points after 17 games played.
