The secretary-general of Afenifere led by Senator Biyi Durojaiye, Bayo Aina, said the Yoruba have realised that it is only the APC that can give Yoruba candidate a ticket.

It was reported that this is as the party is polarised into two, with each faction pledging loyalty to the governor and Tinubu who is the national leader of the APC.

Tinubu, a former Lagos state governor and Fayemi who is the chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) are reportedly eyeing the country's biggest office when the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari ends in 2023.
