- Osaze Odemwingie's similar transfer saga in 2013 was experienced by Didier Lamkel Ze
- The ex-Nigerian forward was denied entry into his supposed new club Queens Park Rangers
- On the other hand, Lamkel Ze was forced out of his club's training complex after proposing a move
Osaze Odemwingie once tried to force a move out West Bromwich Albion to Queens Park Rangers in 2013 but was denied entry into the Loftus Road complex.
The former Nigerian international drove 200 miles from the West Midlands to London on transfer deadline day only for him to be rejected by the Hoops.
Cameroonian footballer Didier Lamkel Ze who currently plies his trade for Belgian side Royal Antwerp also wanted to leave the club.
The 24-year-old forward proposed a move to Greece to join Panathinaikos to reunite with former boss Laszlo Boloni.
Lamkel Ze was recently quoted by Talk Sport:
“It’s simple: I want to go to Greece. I have given my personal agreement. Don’t play with my career.”
He did not travel to Greece and Antwerp were not ready to let go but as Lamkel Ze returned to training the unbelievable happened.
The striker was escorted out of the club's training complex after trying to force his way into the entrance with securities holding him off.
Images of the scene posted on social media which did not go down well with the club's hierarchy.
Lamkel Ze had separate bust-ups with teammate Jelle van Damme and clashing with Antwerp supporters on several occasions.
However, he apologized on his Twitter handle and said:
“I sincerely apologise to the club and the Antwerp supporters because they are magnificent and wonderful fans who have always supported me.
“If I reacted like that, it is because my head was elsewhere with the transfer, it wasn’t easy for me. I’m so sorry for my actions.
“I won’t forget how my teammates and the technical staff have supported me in the dressing room since my arrival here.
“I’m ready for the club if the new coach needs me. I hope to be in front of the supporters very soon on the pitch.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Samuel Chukwueze made his 100th appearance for Villarreal in their 4-1 win over Zamora in the Copa del Rey.
