Bandits kill nine travelers on Kaduna highway, kidnap 11

- More Nigerians have been sent to an untimely grave by ravaging bandits in Kaduna

- Many people were also kidnapped by bandits on the same day

- Meanwhile, the villagers have lamented the killings, calling for government's help

Some innocent Nigerian travelers including infants have lost their lives in the hands of bandits in Zankoro village along Birnin Gwari-Kaduna highway on Sunday, January 3.

Also, no fewer than 11 people were kidnapped by the bandits on the same day at Dan Kungi village in the Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.

Chairman of the Birnin-Gwari Progressives Union, Salisu Haruna, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, January 4, Punch Newspaper reports.

The statement decried what it described as an alarming rise of banditry and killings in Birnin Gwari general area.

According to him, more than 40 persons were abducted by the bandits between December 20, 2020 and January 4, 2021.

The statement read in part:

“A total of nine innocent travelers were killed at Zankoro along Birnin Gwari-Kaduna highway on Sunday, January 3, 2021. A total of 11 people were kidnapped at Dan Kungi village on Sunday January 3, 2021."

Recall that Legit.ng reported that no fewer than 19 people were killed in a fresh two-day attack by bandits in Kaduna state. 12 of the deceased were indigenes of Kaya, Giwa local government area.

Also, two married women were among an unspecified number of the villagers said to have been kidnapped by the bandits during the coordinated attacks, while nine persons sustained bullet injuries.

Legit.ng also reported that suspected bandits recently invaded Kawaran Rafi village in Igabi local government area of Kaduna state and killed Danleeman Isah, the Chief Imam of the village.

According to media reports, the bandits stormed the deceased’s residence, shot him dead, and left the location without taking any items or hostages.

Also, the national chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Audu Ogbeh, revealed what happens after captives are rescued from the clutch of terrorists and bandits following payment of ransoms.

According to him, it is now clear that terrorists divert the ransom money into the purchase of arms.
