Iran offers to help Nigeria end terrorism

Nigeria has received help offer from Iran over the menace of Boko Haram insurgents.

The offer was extended by the Islamic Republic of Iran ambassador to Nigeria, Mohammad Alibak.

He said his country is ready to help Nigeria end terrorism. He disclosed this in an interview with Nigeria Tribune.

Alibak added that Iran is disturbed with the insecurity challenges bedevilling the country.

The ambassador said:

“If Nigeria is willing to cooperate, we can help to end terrorism in the country. The Islamic Republic of Iran has gained valuable experience in this field due to its long-term fight, against terrorism."

However, many Nigerians have immediately taken to social media to react to the latest development with many claiming that Nigeria should have nothing to do with the Islamic nation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the federal government claimed that some foreign bodies such as the International Criminal Court (ICC) and Amnesty International (AI) are frustrating Nigeria's moves to end the activities of terrorists in the country.

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, made this claim on Monday, January 4, while addressing a press conference in Lagos, the nation's business capital.

Mohammed accused ICC and AI of demoralising Nigeria's military by making themselves into a fighting force.

In a similar vein, Legit.ng also reported that the federal government on Monday, January 4, promised Nigerians that the country will witness improved security in 2021.
