Nigeria records 1204 new cases of coronavirus

- More Nigerians have been diagnosed with the rampaging coronavirus

In what will be scary news to many Nigerians, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed another high number of cases of coronavirus across the country.

Specifically, the agency revealed 1204 new cases were confirmed in the country, making it one of the highest recorded so far.

The NCDC confirmed the new cases across 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, January 4.

As usual, Lagos state leads the table with 654 cases while FCT and Plateau follow respectively with 200 and 60 cases.

With this, 91,351 people have been confirmed with the disease while 75,699 have been discharged with 1,318 deaths.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Nigeria's ace comedian Ali Baba advised people to adhere strictly to safety guidelines against the deadly coronavirus after recently surviving the disease.

In a video on his Instagram page, the comedian said people died in the isolation centre he was taken to when he contracted COVID-19.

According to him, anyone who says coronavirus is not real should not be trusted. He said the virus is real and killing people.

"Don’t let anyone tell you it’s a scam. I just came out of isolation. Several people died while I was there. Some of my close friends knew and they were very supportive."
