Juventus opened the New Year with a win in Serie A after recording a comfortable 4-1 win over Udinese.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace as Federico Chiesa also got his name on the scoresheet as well as Paulo Dybala to put the Biaconeri in fifth position in Serie A with a game at hand.

The defending champions were given an early scare in the 11th minute as Rodrigo De Paul thought he had scored for the away side only for the VAR to sot the striker in an offside position.

However, the Old Lady took the lead in the 31st minute after Aaron Ramsey picked the pocket of a Udinese player and laid the pass for Ronaldo who struck the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Ramsey could have scored by the Juan Musso had to make a fantastic from the Welshman's effort which was goal-bound.

Five minutes after the start of the second half, Juventus made it 2-0 as Ronaldo turned provider for Chiesa who made no mistake with his left-foot finish.

Udinese also had their moments in the game as Kevin Lasagna and Marvin Zeegelaar rattled the cross-bar on separate occasions.

Ronaldo then grabbed the third after Rodrigo Bentancur stole the ball from a Udinese player and put in a first-time pass to the Portuguese who delivered a steady finish to score his 14th and make it 3-0.

Udinese had a consolation goal as Wojciech Szczesny punched a low cross into the path of Zeegelaar who scored into an empty net to make it 3-1.

Just before the final whistle, Dybala rounded off a resounding victory after the Argentine latch onto a through ball from Danilo and put the ball beyond the goalkeeper to end the game at 4-1.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo recently reached 250 million followers on Instagram.
