For former Ghanaian president John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the last presidential election held on Monday, December 7, is not over nor in the least conclusive.

Mahama who kicked against the results of the election has claimed that the entire electoral process that brought about the victory of his rival, President Nana Akufo-Addo was both rigged and unconstitutional.

The former Gold coast leader has therefore rejected the outcome of the poll in its entirety and even tagged it fraudulent.

Mahama said he is "unwilling to accept the fictionalised results of a flawed election. We will take all legitimate steps to reverse this tragedy of justice.”

He matched his words with actions on Tuesday, December 29, by filing a lawsuit in the nation's Supreme Court in which he called for a restraint on Akufo-Addo who already sees himself as the president-elect

Concerning this, he wrote in a tweet:

"The National Democratic Congress has decided to proceed to the Supreme Court to contest the results of the rigged elections of December 7. The decision follows a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our party on Tuesday in Accra.
"While in court, the NDC will continue all legitimate actions, including protests, to demand the enforcement of the rule of law and protection of life and property of the good people of Ghana."

Earlier, Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was declared the winner of the 2020 Ghana presidential elections by the country's election office, the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
