Year in Review: Failed prophecies of 2020, from TB Joshua to Suleman

Just like every New Year, 2020 was ushered in with bold prophecies from top clergymen in the country which were received by people of faith. However, some of these predictions did not only go off the hook, they failed to completely materialise and now the year is diving down into memory.

The year 2020, without any scintilla of doubt, came with unprecedented job loss, death and illness occasioned by the arrival of the deadly coronavirus pandemic currently hitting over 200 countries and territories across the world.

The pandemic's impact was so disastrous in numerous ways, with some of the prophecies that came with it, and the year generally, missing the mark.

Meanwhile, as part of the year in review, Legit.ng highlights some of the prophecies that failed accomplish in 2020.

1. COVID-19 will end in March 2020 - TB Joshua

Courting another controversy to himself, the founder of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), TB Joshua prophesied that the coronavirus would end in March.

Joshua claimed that the coronavirus would disappear the way it came by the 27th of March, 2020.

Speaking further, Joshua said that if it is not a medicine that brought it to the world, then medicine cannot take it out.

The cleric, in another statement released on Monday, May 11, also said God is going to establish many who might lose their jobs to the pandemic.

But with the prophecy falling off the mark with coronavirus still in town, the popular pastor was knocked by Nigerians.

2. 2020 a perfection year - Oyakhilome

Founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, popularly known as Christ Embassy, Chris Oyakhilome, predicted that 2020 would be a year of perfection.

But this has been untrue as the year was riddled with death and illness, panic and different distractions.

3. 2020 going to behave like a child that is having a convulsion - Adeboye

Respected clergyman, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, had predicted that there would earthquakes and volcanoes in his prophecy for the year 2020 sighted by Legit.ng.

"This year (2020) unless you pray very hard, it is going to behave like a child that is having a convulsion. Earthquakes and volcanoes that have been dormant for years will erupt because of sin, which is becoming more rampant."

But a data of Volcano Discovery for 2020 confirmed fewer earthquakes with higher magnitudes recorded over previous years.

4. There won't be lack of money - Apostle Johnson Suleman

Coming on the list of failed prophecy is the statement made earlier at the beginning of the year in which Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, said there would not be lack of money.

In his words:

"In the year 2020, you shall not lack money, you shall move from glory to glory, from grace to grace, from good to better, from better to best."

But statistics showed that money was not a surplus in 2020. There was (is) inflation. In fact, Nigeria is presently in a recession amid job losses.

I never said Orji will be Nigeria's next president - TB Joshua

Meanwhile, TB Joshua has distanced himself from the media report linking him with a prophecy that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu would become Nigeria's president come 2023.

The Nigerian televangelist, 57, debunked the media report in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Monday, December 28.
