Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly close to agree a mega million deal with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid over the transfer of defender Marcos Alonso.

The Spaniard has found himself cast aside at Chelsea and on the offloading pile after he infuriated Lampard with some questionable and disrespectful behaviour during the draw against West Brom.

Alonso has not played at all since then despite the Blues missing Ben Chilwell at times, the attack-minded Spaniard is still being ignored by Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

Following a 10-match ban slapped on Kieran Trippier, Atletico Madrid chiefs are looking for a good defender and they see Alonso as a good option.

The 30-year-old still has three more years left on his current contract with Chelsea and the Blues will now prefer to loan him out in January 2021.

Chelsea are currently occupying sixth position on the Premier League standings with 26 points after 16 games played so far this tern by the Blues.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly ready to give Manchester United a run for their money as they re-ignite their interest in Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils made several attempts to bring the winger back to the Premier League in the summer but their refusal to meet the £108 million price placed on him by the German club.

United eventually pulled out of the race due to the hefty tag in the middle of the financial crisis caused by the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

However, sources close to the Red Devils reveal that they might be planning a new bid for the youngster next year but will have to battle Premier League rivals according to Italian football expert Fabrizio Romano.

Legit.ng also reported how Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa emerged a top transfer target for Arsenal during the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old will be out of contract with the Spanish League giants in the summer but the club wants to get him off their payroll quicker than expected.

He returned to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in 2018 but spent most of his time on the sidelines owing to series of injuries.
