Manchester United recorded a late win over Wolves as Marcus Rashford scored in injury time to edge a dour encounter at Old Trafford.

Both teams had faced eachother in different encounters since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was installed as manager but this was among the least entertaining of a poor bunch, however United won't care as they head into 2021 off the back of a crucial win.

Recall that the Red Devils played a draw with Leicester City on December 26, Sokskjaer made six changes to the team that faced wolves and it looked like the cracker was heading for a goalless draw.

In the 69th minute, Manchester United had the ball in the net as Edinson Cavani fired the ball into the back of the net from a corner, but he was offside when the flick on was made.

United appealed for a penalty in the 85th minute after Bruno Fernandes rifled a shot which hits the back of Conor Coady.

It looked like the ball might have glanced his arm, but never an offence as the center referee ignored calls for a spot kick.

It was a boring game which went from bad to worse in quality. Neither side seem to have any real ideas of how to mix things up, with United lacklustre in attack.

You sense a moment of a magic, a defensive error or even a VAR intervention could decide this one.

In stoppage time, Rashford collected the ball on the right flank before cutting inside and taking aim with his left foot, and the shot found the back of the net via a deflection. It ended; Manchester United 1-0 Wolves.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal continued their resurgence in the Premier League with a second victory on the bounce after a narrow 1-0 win over a determined Brighton and Hove Albion.

Alexandre Lacazzette’s cool finish from a Bukayo Saka cross was all the Gunners needed to exert the perfect revenge on the Seagulls, who have emerged victorious in their past two encounters.
