Cristiano Ronaldo believes that the boos he gets from rivals fans during a match serve as motivation, The Sun.
The 35-year-old admitted that he misses the hostile reception from fans when the crowd were still allowed to watch matches.
"I like when people boo Cristiano."
The Juventus star who was named Player of the Century at the recently held Globe Awards also lamented playing in empty stadiums.
Fans have been restricted to watching live games for several months due to the global pandemic and it has been a turn off for the Portuguese star.
Speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, Ronaldo said:
"For me I have to be honest, to play in an empty stadium is boring in my opinion.
"We, the players, respect all the protocol and health is the most important thing of all, of course, but I don't like it, to be honest.
"I do it first of all because I love football. My passion is always football. I play for my family, my kids, my friends, the fans. But I don't like it, to be honest. It's so weird."
It is understood that Ronaldo handed the best player award to Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski after much persuasion from his superagent Jorge Mendes.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier report that Cristiano Ronaldo did the unthinkable when he reportedly handed the Player of the Year Award to Robert Lewandowski.
It is understood that the 35-year-old was actually the winner of Player of the Century but handed the 2020 best player accolade to Lewandowski instead.
