Nigeria not a failed state, APC replies PDP, others

Nigeria a failed state? Not at all. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared.

The ruling party said that despite all the bad things being declared against the country, Nigeria is nowhere near a failed state.

APC made this known in a statement signed by the secretary of the caretaker/ extra-ordinary national planning committee, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, in Abuja, on Sunday, December 27.

The statement read in part:

“President Buhari’s administration which sees the urgent need to have a better policing system for the country and is embarking on sweeping police reforms and supporting community policing is definitely not governing a country close to becoming a failed state."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported thatiIn what will come as an insult to the federal government, the Coalition of Northern Groups warned that Nigeria is drifting to a failed state under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was disclosed CNG’s spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman. According to him, apart from the comatose economy, the inability of the government to provide basic amenities to the people is a sign of failure in the country, The Punch reports.

The groups also listed some of the things that showed that Nigeria is heading for being a failed state. It listed the indicators as poverty, corruption, ineffective governance, crime, violence, forced displacement and sectarian and ethnic conflict.

Legit.ng also reported that Kukah lambasted northern Muslim elite over the proliferation of Almarijis in the region.

The cleric said the Almajiris in the northern part of Nigeria have been “sinned against” and denied opportunities for social progress by the elite.

Legit.ng gathered that Kukah, who is the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kaduna, said on Monday, June 8, that the Almajiri has become a scapegoat for the multiple sins of the Nigerian state in general and some Muslim elite in particular.
