Kingsley Chinda says there are talks in NASS about impeaching Buhari

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has said there are plans in the National Assembly to commence an impeachment process against President Muhammadu Buhari.

The legislator stated that he and others are sensitising other lawmakers to support impeaching the president, The Nation reported.

Chinda was said to have made the statement when he spoke on Nigeria Info, 92.3FM in Port Harcourt.

He faulted the leader of the House, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, for threatening him with punishment for Buhari’s resignation.

The legislator said:

“We are talking with our colleagues. We are also talking to Nigerians and we are asking Nigerians to talk to their representatives. It is not what you want. If the people that the House leader represents in Kano come together and tell him (Doguwa) we want you to sign this impeachment notice, we are in support, he has no right to do otherwise.

Chinda accused the president of failing in his constitutional duties of security the lives and property of the Nigerian people.

In another news, Nigeria's defence minister, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd), has sent an important message to Christians ahead of Christmas celebrations. Magashi called on Christians as they celebrate the birth of Christ to pray for Nigeria to overcome its security challenges.

The defence minister who gave the charge in a statement on Thursday, December 24, noted that the least appreciation Nigerians can show to the soldiers who are fighting patriotically on the frontlines is to pray for them and be security conscious at this time.

He went on to note that this is the season to turn to God to crown the sacrifices of Nigeria's fighting forces to attain maximum victory over adversaries.
