Interior minister Aregbesola advises Nigerian youths not to rely on govt only for jobs

The minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has advised Nigerian youths not to depend only on the government and private institutions for jobs.
According to The Nation, Aregbesola urged the youths to engage in productive activities that can make them self-sufficient and gainfully employed.
Legit.ng gathers that the minister made this known at the grand finale of his stakeholders’ engagement for youths and women of Osun Central Senatorial District in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

The minister had, in the past two weeks, held consultative meetings with various groups after kick-starting a stakeholders’ engagement across the state.
This was in line with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari following the violence which trailed the recent #EndSARS protests in some parts of the country.
A statement by the interior ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammed Manga, indicates Aregbesola said the limited number of white-collar jobs, especially in the public sector, was inadequate to cater for the teeming youths that are being churned out into the labour market every year.
The minister said the development has made it imperative for the youths to look for other alternatives to become economically empowered.
He advised the youths to think creatively rather than wait endlessly for the government and private organisations to give them jobs.

In another report, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria's vice president, said providing jobs for young Nigerians is a top priority for the federal government.
Presidential spokesman, Laolu Akande, said the vice president made this known during a virtual courtesy call from Huawei Nigeria, led by its new CEO, Trevor Liu on Thursday, November 26.
Osinbajo said the federal government is open to partnership with technology companies to build capacity and employ more Nigerians.
