The governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal has tested negative for the deadly coronavirus.
Tambuwal revealed this information in a tweet shared on his official Twitter handle @AWTambuwal on Monday, December 21.
Legit.ng gathered that Tambuwal who had been in isolation for a few days got his latest results after several tests. The Sokoto governor will be resuming official functions on Tuesday, December 22.
News of Tambuwal's results is coming after the Sokoto state governor went into isolation following his contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
This was revealed in a short message posted on the governor's Twitter handle on Friday, December 18.
According to the statement, the deputy governor will oversee all activities in the state pending the outcome of the COVID-19 result of the governor.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Tambuwal's Plateau state counterpart, Simon Lalong, tested positive for COVID-19, following a test he and members of his family carried out.
A statement from the Plateau state government revealed that Lalong’s test result returned positive while all members of his family tested negative.
He said that the governor, who is asymptomatic, has gone into isolation while his close aides are being tested, adding that he had directed his deputy, Sonny Tyoden, to handle all state matters in his absence.
In a related development, the Lagos state ministry of health has given an update a few days after Governor Sanwo-Olu contracted COVID-19.
Akin Abayomi, the commissioner for health in Lagos, in a tweet said Governor Sanwo-Olu is responding well to treatment.
Abayomi stated that the governor is getting adequate medical attention in self-isolation at his official residence.
The commissioner added that Sanwo-Olu is in high spirit and full of gratitude for prayers on his behalf from well-meaning Lagosians.
