Ronaldinho has been in so many struggles of late and his latest worry is about his mum being in intensive care battling for her life against coronavirus.

The Brazilian legend made it public and has thanked family and friends for their prayers and hopes his mum comes out strong.

The former Barcelona midfielder was quoted by ESPN FC's Twitter handle:

"Dear friends, my mum has Covid and we are in the fight for her to recover soon.
"She is in the intensive care center, receiving all the care. I thank you in advance for your prayers, positive energies and affection.

"Be strong, mum."

Earlier in the year, Ronaldinho was arrested with his elder brother for using fake documents in entering Paraguay.

The 42-year-old was remanded in prison where he spent over four weeks before he was handed a house arrest in a hotel in the city of Asuncion, capital of Paraguay.

After much speculation, the ex-AC Milan and PSG star was released and the former one-time Ballon d'Or winner returned to his native home.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Ronaldinho's constant partying lifestyle with Alexandre Pato led to the break up of his first marriage, former wife Sthefany Brito claims.

The former Chelsea and AC Milan star is believed to have lived too much of a party boy lifestyle which affected his career and marriage.

The former AC Milan striker was once considered the next big thing after bursting onto the world stage as a teenager.

Legit.ng also reported that Ronaldinho has sent his words of appreciation to fans and well-wishers for standing by him all through his time in Paraguayan prison.

The Barcelona legend and his brother Roberto de Assis Moreira were arrested at the airport in March and were imprisoned for a month before detaining them in a luxury hotel.

The 2002 World Cup winner was traveling to the country to promote a campaign for the less privileged children before he was apprehended.
