Kankara abduction: Hundreds of Nigerian Women hold one million rally in Abuja

- More Nigerians have continued to hail President Muhammadu Buhari for the swift release of the Kankara schoolboys

- This time the commendation was given to the president by a group, under the aegis of Women For Buhari

- To celebrate the release of the boys, hundreds of women took to the streets of Abuja in appreciation of the Nigerian leader

A group under the aegis of Women For Buhari (WFB) on Monday, December 21, conducted a one million rally at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, following the release of over 300 schoolboys who were abducted in Kankara, Katsina state.

In a report by Leadership, hundreds of Nigerian women took to the streets of the Federal Capital Territory, singing and jubilating in appreciation of President Muhammadu Buhari for the students' safe return.

The group noted that for acting like a “true father and leader” again, they are proud of Buhari who has the interest of Nigeria at heart.

Princess Ajibola, the president of WFB speaking on behalf of the women stated that they as wives, mothers, and sisters are the greatest beneficiaries of the president and security agencies quick intervention.

While commending the president, Ajibola added that Buhari's patriotism and concern for the lives of the citizens are second to none.

The women also hailed the service chiefs for their cooperation and the efforts of the troops who ensure the safety of Nigerians.

Legit.ng recalls that the students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara were released on Thursday, December 17, after they were kidnapped on Friday, December 11.

A statement by the special assistant to President Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie, indicated that the government of Katsina state announced the release of over 500 schoolboys abducted at Kankara local government area of the state.

Also corroborating the report, the personal assistant to the president on new media, Bashir Ahmad, in a tweet said that the abducted schoolboys have been rescued.

Meanwhile, the Association of Nigerian Professionals in Europe (ANPE) has commended President Buhari and personnel of all security agencies in the country over the release of the students.

ANPE said the president alongside the security agencies' leadership and other personnel made the release of the boys possible.
