Diego Maradona's former doctor Dr Alfredo Cahe has suggested that the Argentine soccer legend probably 'committed su'icide'.

The medical doctor who treated the 1986 World Cup winner also claimed the 60-year-old may have been 'tired of living' and this may have forced him to slide into depression eventually.

He presumed that the former Barcelona and Napoli icon had stopped eating or taking his medication shortly after his brain surgery - days before his death.

"This just does not seem like a simple heart attack to me."

The medical doctor also revealed that the two-time Serie A champion once tried taking his own life after driving towards an oncoming bus in Cuba but survived the impact.

After the incident, Cahe was said to have asked Maradona if he would repeat the same action sometime soon and this is what the former footballer turned manager said:

"Maybe someday, what do I know?"

Daily Mail added that Dr Cahe was said to have spoken with Veronica Ojeda - one of the footballer's ex-girlfriends and mother of one of his children, days before his death. And Veronica was quoted to have told him:

"You know Diego said he was fed up with living and didn’t want to carry on anymore because he has done everything.'
