Cristiano Ronaldo equalled a 59-year-old Serie A record the same night Lionel Messi matched Pele's record.

The Juventus striker netted a brace in their 4-0 win over Parma to take his tally to 33 in the calendar year.

On the other hand, Messi scored his 643rd goal for Barcelona in their 2-2 draw with Valencia making him the second equal Pele's record for most goals for a single club with Santos.

Ronaldo equaled former Juventus star Omar Sivori's goalscoring feat in 1961 which no player in the Italian topflight division has ever done in recent years.

The 35-year-old is the fourth player in history to achieve the feat after Gunnar Nordahl in 1950 and Felice Borel in 1933.

With a game still left to play before the winter break, Ronaldo has the chance to surpass the record when the Biaconeri take on Fiorentina in a league game before the winter break.

Juventus have now closed the gap to league leaders AC Milan to four points at the top of Serie A following the win over Parma.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Juventus moved to third on the Serie A table following their 4-0 win over Parma in an entertaining contest.

The Bianconeri bounced back from a draw to Atalanta in the past weekend to score four unreplied goals at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed his 11th and 12th goal of the season after netting a brace as Dejan Kulusevski and Alvaro Morata were the other scorers for Juve.

Legit.ng had also reported that Lionel Messi scored his 643rd goal in Barcelona shirt in their 2-2 draw with Valencia on Saturday, December 19 to equal the incredible record set by legendary Pele.

Messi was able to restore parity in the added minutes of the first half through a header after his initial attempt from the spot was brilliantly saved by Juame.

Jordi Alba benefited from the keeper's save and crossed the ball back targeting his teammates which eventually found the Argentine who then headed it into the net.
