As reported by DFB via SunSport, Rudiger said:

"Of course I also heard in London through the news and through friends and family how the corona situation at home has clearly deteriorated again in recent weeks.
"That is really tragic. The people who work in the corona intensive care units are currently doing a great job. For me, these are all women and men of honour.
"These people cannot be thanked enough for all their services in this very difficult time."

This is coming barely two months that his team-mate at Chelsea, Reece James, joined the fight against hunger in the United Kingdom by donating £10,000 to London food charity.

The star defender was also said to have promised to raise further £100,000 when he turns 21 on December this year.

James has however joined fellow countryman Marcus Rashford who has also been involved in the fight against child poverty.
