NIPSS DG, Habu Galadima dies after brief illness

Professor Habu Shuaibu Galadima, the director-general of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru has died, plunging his family and close associates into tears and grief.

Legit.ng gathered that Galadima's death was announced in a statement signed by Brigadier General CFJ Udaya (rtd), the Secretary/Director of Administration, NIPSS.

According to Udaya, the NIPSS DG passed away on Sunday morning, December 20, after a brief illness.

He went on to note that Galadima will be buried according to Islamic rites.

Reacting to his demise, President Muhammadu Buhari described Galadima as an intellectual colossus who stood tall in the field of scholarship and knowledge.

Buhari, who spoke through a statement by his media and publicity spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said Nigeria at large has lost one of the best DGs ever appointed to head the institute.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Captain Muhtar Usman, the former director-general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has passed away.

The former NCAA DG died after losing a fight to a brief illness in Zaria, Kaduna state on Tuesday, December 1.

A source close to Usman described the death of the former DG as shocking, saying he was rushed to the hospital on Monday, November 30.

In a related development, Domkat Bali, former minister of defence, passed away at the age of 80.
