The Ondo state commissioner for regional duties, Professor Bayonile Ademodi, was on Saturday, December 19, reported dead.
The sad news of Ademodi's death was announced on Sunday in Akure, the capital by the state's commissioner for information and orientation, Donald Ojogo, The Nation reports.
Late Ademodi, who hailed from Ondo town, was a professor of chemical engineering.
So far, nothing has been said concerning the cause of Ademodi's death.
According to a statement released on Saturday, by Sam Olorunfemi, one of the media aides of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the late professor died while undergoing a medical surgery.
Quoting a member of the state's House of Assembly, Tomide Akinribido, Olorunfemi noted that late Ademodi would always be remembered for "his exemplary lifestyle as a man who demonstrated great commitment to the service of humanity and Ondo state."
The governor's media aide added that "his dynamism and diligence endeared him to the people of Ondo east LGA and Ondo kingdom in particular and progressives nationwide."
Meanwhile, Kwara state on Thursday, December 17, lost to the cold hands of death one of its very powerful and highly placed politicians, Simon Sayomi, at the age of 95.
Sayomi who hailed from Igosun in Oyun local government area of the state served as a deputy governor under the administration of Mohammed Lawal between 1999 and 2003.
The former deputy governor's death was confirmed in Ilorin, the state's capital by his son, Ola Sayomi.
In a conversation with journalists, Ola said:
“He died on Wednesday night between 9:30 p.m. and 10:p.m. He was born on Oct. 10, 1925. We will miss him because he was a hero to us in everything."
