- Shuaibu Usman has become the latest victim of kidnappers in Nigeria
- Usman is the acting Eje of Ankpa in Ankpa local government area of Kogi state
- According to the police, the kidnappers have not made any contact with the family
In what will no longer be shocking to many Nigerians, another kidnapping incident has occurred in the country again and in a place of worship to boot.
This time, the incident occurred in Kogi state. Here, Shuaibu Usman, acting Eje of Ankpa in Ankpa local government area of the state, was kidnapped.
According to reports, the criminals kidnapped the traditional ruler while entering a mosque to observe prayers around 5:30am on Friday, December 18.
The Cable reports that the incident was confirmed by Ayuba Ede, the state commissioner of police.
He was reported to have said the suspected kidnappers laid an ambush at the mosque before the abduction.
However, he said that the criminals are yet to make any contact with the family, adding that the police are doing everything possible to rescue him.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari has apologised to Nigerians for saying only 10 schoolboys were kidnapped from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina state.
Shehu in a thread of tweets sighted by Legit.ng on Friday, December 18, said he got the information regarding the number from "persons that should ideally know."
The senior presidential aide, however, said the mistake regarding the numbers was not to downplay the seriousness of the abduction.

Legit.ng had also reported that the federal government has insisted that bandits were responsible for the kidnap of the Katsina students.
Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, dismissed claims by Boko Haram insurgents that they carried out the abduction.
He said the terrorists falsely claimed responsibility for the abductions because they were seeking relevance, having been decimated.
