Coronavirus: Outrage as FG records 806 new cases of COVID-19 as death toll rises to 1,212

- NCDC has announced 806 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria

- The COVID-19 deaths have now risen to 1,212

- Lagos state tops the list of the cases with 287 while it was followed by FCT which recorded 255

Nigeria has recorded 806 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus pandemic as Lagos state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had 287 and 255 respectively.

Legit.ng reports that the news was broken on Friday, December 18, by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Kaduna state recorded 36 cases while it was followed by Akwa Ibom state which has 29. Katsina state recorded 25 cases while Rivers state also recorded 25 cases.

The NCDC said that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria now 77,013. A total number of 67,484 cases have been discharged while 1,212 deaths have been recorded.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Simon Lalong, the governor of Plateau state, tested positive for COVID-19, following a test he and members of his family carried out.

It was reported that the news was broken by the governor’s director of press and public, Makut Macham, in a statement in Jos on Thursday, December 17.

The governor’s test result returned positive while all members of his family tested negative.

He said that the governor, who is asymptomatic, has gone into isolation while his close aides are being tested, adding that he had directed his deputy, Sonny Tyoden, to handle all state matters in his absence.
