The National Inter-Faith and Religious Organizations for Peace (NIFROP) on Friday, December 18, said it welcomed the release of some students of Government Science Secondary School (GSSS) in Kankara, Katsina state kidnapped by criminals.
In a statement seen by Legit.ng and signed by the group's national coordinator, Bishop Sunday Garuba, NIFROP said the release of the schoolboys is a show of God's faithfulness towards Nigeria and President Muhammadu Buhari.
He urged all Nigerians to continue to pray for President Buhari's administration to survive the evil plans of those who have made up their to decided to use themselves against Nigeria's progress.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Katsina state government on Thursday, December 17, said that over 300 students kidnapped by some criminal gang in Katsina state have been released.
The boys were abducted from the Government Science Secondary School, raising controversy over their disappearance.
In a statement, Lauretta Onochie, a special to the president on social media said the Katsina state government led by Governor Aminu Bello Masari confirmed the release of the boys.
The release of the boys followed a video circulated on the internet and shared by Boko Haram commander, Abubakar Shekau.
Shekau in the video confirmed the capture of the over 300 boys by Boko Haram terrorists.
Also, one of the students who were kidnapped, Osama Aminu Maale, narrated his experience while in captivity.
Maale said his colleagues were taken away by the bandits at gunpoint from their school in Kankara village of Katsina state.
It was gathered that the hostages were split into groups before he and four others escaped.
The governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari had also listed the number of people involved in the negotiation process that led to the successful release of the schoolboys.
Masari said that some of the people who were involved in the process include some top military operatives, police personnel and members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).
