Rekik, who currently turns out for Bundesliga giants, Hertha Berlin, is understood to have arrived London on Thursday, December 17.

Metro UK reports the Gunners have already agreed a deal worth £900,000 for the budding centre-back.

It is believed the the deal was finalised on deadline day of the summer window, with Matteo Guendouzi who is currently on loan with Hertha being included in the negotiations.

However, Arsenal failed to rubber-stamp the move in time and Rekik had to remain with Hertha during the start of the new season.

Ahead of his Premier League move, Rekik was yet to make a senior appearance for Hertha's senior squad, only turning out for the youth side.

Man City, Feyenoord, PSV and Marseille are among the top European teams that the youngster was initially linked with.

His arrival is expected to bolster Arsenal's backline in the coming years as Mikel Arteta looks to build a fresh team that can challenge for titles.

The Emirates dwellers have struggled defensively in recent weeks, in a poor run of form that has them occupying 15th place on the standings.
