Sam Allardyce has been appointed as new the new manager of Premier League side West Bromwich Albion, BBC.

The former England manager took over from Slaven Bilic after recording just one win in 13 matches for the Baggies.

The 66-year-old who has not managed any club since 2018 signed an 18-month contract in a quest to help West Brom survive the drop along with his long time assistant Sammy Lee.

Sporting and technical director Luke Dowling said:

"Sam Allardyce has a proven track record in the Premier and has improved every club he has managed in his career.
"Sam believes we have a group of players that have the quality needed to give the club its best chance of Premier League survival."

Allardyce is one of the few managers that are yet to be relegated from the English topflight division after working with seven clubs.

The Baggies are currently in 19th position, with seven points from 13 matches and have recorded their only win of the season against bottom-placed Sheffield United.

Surprisingly, West Brom held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad but it did not change their status on the league table.

Allardyce's first game as manager of the club would come against Aston Villa in a West Midlands derby at the Hawthorns.

The English gaffer has managed the likes of Everton, Crystal Palace, Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham and Sunderland.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Frank Lampard has slammed Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for saying Chelsea are one of the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

The Reds are also in strong contention to retain the trophy despite the injury setbacks that have hit the team this season.

Despite the Blues' defeat to Everton at Stamford Bridge, Klopp does not give his team a chance to win the coveted trophy.

Legit.ng also reported that Jurgen Klopp has admitted he admires Jose Mourinho's turn around in his managerial career since leaving Man United to join Tottenham.

The Special One seemed to have been out of touch with winning trophies when he was sacked by the Red Devils in December 2018.

However, his first full season with Spurs has seen the Lily Whites convincingly moved to the top of the Premier League table.

Legit.ng also reported that Mourinho who is the gaffer of Premier League side Tottenham has claimed that his wards were supposed to win their encounter against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night, December 16.

Tottenham who were on top of the Premier League table before the duel lost against Liverpool with Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino netting the winner for the Premier League champions.
