Former factional Edo APC chairman, Ojezua, supporters defect to PDP

Anselm Ojezua, a former factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Sun reports that Ojezua who led some APC members to the PDP said he left the party due to loss of confidence in its national leadership.

The former APC chieftain also cited the APC leadership's alleged disobedience to the party’s constitution as another reason for his defection.

Legit.ng gathers that the resolution to join the PDP was made at an enlarged meeting of the factional State Executive Council (SEC) of the APC on Wednesday, December 16, in Benin City.

The resolution which was signed by members of the factional executives of the party led by Ojezua and chairmen of the party across the 18 local government areas of the state encouraged the party's supporters numbering over 150,000 to defect with them.

The resolution reads partly:

“It is hereby further resolved that our members should join on other leaders and members who have earlier relocated to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with His Excellency Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Philip Shahibu."

Meanwhile, there is uncertainty over the likely outcome of a case instituted by the APC seeking to remove the Edo state governor, Obaseki, over alleged certificate discrepancies.
