Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly found a replacement for Barcelona target Georginio Wijnaldum ahead of the January transfer window.

The Dutch midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Camp Nou since the arrival of Ronald Koeman in the summer.

Though the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic forced the Catalans to hold off on their quest to sign the 30-year-old, the manager has now stepped up his bid for the Reds star.

Klopp has revealed earlier this campaign that he is not planning to let his key player leave any time soon, but his refusal to pen an extension might mean he is in his last season at the club.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Sanches broke into the limelight during his time at Portuguese club Benfica won the prestigious Golden Boy award the following year.

He was also a part of Fernando Santos' team that conquered Europe four years ago after lifting the continental silverware in France.

The midfielder could not replicate his performances for Bayern Munich after joining them in 2016 and was offloaded to Lille last year as reported by UK Metro.

During his three-year reign at the Allianz Stadium, he spent one year on loan at Swansea was did not live up to expectation at the Liberty Stadium.

However, the 23-year-old has been able to revive his career in France and this has begun to attract attention from the Premier League defending champions.

French news outlet Le 10 Sport reports that Klopp has been an admirer of the Portugal international and believes he will be the ideal addition to his squad if Wijnaldum leaves.

The German boss said after his side's 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion last month that he would be delighted if the midfielder stays back at Anfield beyond next summer.

"I would be happy if he would stay here. I am pretty happy with Gini. You can see that when you see most of the line-ups!
"He always played good, that’s why he played so many games. And he has played plenty of positions, different positions.
"He’s in a good moment, thank God! Long may it continue. There is nothing else to say about it. As long as nothing is decided, then everything is possible. I’m positive."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Real Madrid are prepared to launch a bid for Liverpool midfielder Georgino Wijnaldum who is also being trailed by rivals Barcelona and Italian giants Inter Milan.
