Jerry Bengtson who plays for Club Olimpia decided to wear a face mask during matches for his club to protect his family from the risk of contracting coronavirus, Daily Star.

The Honduras international has worn a mask since the global pandemic and helped his club secure CONCACAF Champions League progression.

Olimpia recently dispatched Thierry Henry's led Montreal Impact to earn a place in the semi-final and would face the winner New York City FC and Tigres UANL tie.

”It's weird because he's the only player on the squad and in the championship who plays with a mask.
"It doesn't bother him and he's also scoring goals."

Fans were also concerned about the safety of Bengston's ability to breathe while wearing the mask before he was substituted in the match.

One fan said:

“But in theory players on the pitch are all tested and negative so other than coming off the pitch you shouldn’t need to put a mask?”

A second added:

“That's not advisable at all, considering the amount of oxygen needed at such intense level of sporting activity.”

A third commented:

"Good for him. A lot of misinformed and just plain wrong people in this comments section.
"With a fourth joking: “Don't worry guys, if all games played have the same level of pace as the one I watched yesterday, there's no chance he gonna collapse.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Neymar suffered a terrible ankle injury during Paris Saint-Germain's loss to Lyon in a crunch Ligue 1 game at the weekend.

A late tackle from Thiago Mendes on Neymar saw the Brazilian crashing to the floor in tears and was later stretchered off the pitch.

Mendes was given his marching orders but Lyon held on for the win as Tino Kadewere grabbed the only goal of the match in the first half.
