- Neymar sent a message to Lionel Messi before PSG and Barcelona were seeded in the Champions League round of 16
- The Brazil international may not be available for the clash against his former teammate when the competition resumes in February
- Neymar and Messi won titles together at the Camp Nou including La Liga trophies and a Champions League title
Neymar sent a message to his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi before the Champions League round of 16 draws were made.
Paris Saint-Germain were drawn against Barcelona in the last 16 and either Neymar or Messi would go through the next stage of the elite competition.
The Brazilian posted on his official Instagram handle saying:
“We will see each other soon, friend.”
Neymar and Messi have not hidden their friendship for each other despite the former Santos star leaving the Camp Nou for a £200million world record fee to Paris in 2017.
And it is understood that Neymar wants to reunite with his favourite teammate at Parc des Princes next summer after the Argentine stated he would leave Barca at the end of the season.
However, Neymar suffered a nasty ankle injury which could see him not play against Barcelona in February as the extent of damage has not been revealed.
The 28-year-old was tackled hard from behind during PSG's 1-0 loss to Lyon in Ligue 1 over the weekend and his ankle seemed to have turned around from its original spot.
Neymar was in tears as he was stretchered off the pitch which could see him go through another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Neymar suffered a terrible ankle injury during Paris Saint-Germain's loss to Lyon in a crunch Ligue 1 game at the weekend.
A late tackle from Thiago Mendes on Neymar saw the Brazilian crashing to the floor in tears and was later stretchered off the pitch.
Mendes was given his marching orders but Lyon held on for the win as Tino Kadewere grabbed the only goal of the match in the first half.
