The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, December 12, witnessed an influx of new members from parties like the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue.

Prominent among the new APC members was Blessing Onu Mark, the daughter of David Mark who served as a Senate president in Nigeria.

Blessing brought a lot of members from other political platforms to the APC in the state.

During the party's reception ceremony for the new members, Blessing (who is a lawmaker representing Otukpo/Ohimini federal constituency in Benue) declared that the PDP is dead.

Meanwhile, Terkimbi Ikyange, former Benue state House of Assembly speaker, was reportedly set for a sensational return to the ruling party, the APC.

Comrade Abba Yaro, APC chairman in the state, made this disclosure and further added that the party would welcome both new and former members in time soon.

Yaro, who described the former speaker as a valuable asset, assured that Ikyange will strengthen the popularity and acceptability of the APC in Benue state.

Prior to the disclosure, Yakubu Dogara, the former speaker of the House of Representatives, decamped from the PDP to the APC.

The news came after Dogara alongside Governor Mai Malam Buni of Yobe state met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja on Friday, July 24.

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state said he was not ready to leave the PDP for his former platform, APC.

The governor made this known while speaking at the PDP congress where the new state executive committee of the party was elected, putting speculations over his planned defection to rest.

Ortom admitted that he was invited by the APC but he had no plan to join due to his commitment to the growth of the opposition party.
